Kenya Climbs to 109th in Latest FIFA Rankings After 4-0 Win Over Lesotho
Kenya’s national football team, the Harambee Stars, have moved up two places to 109th in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings following their recent international assignments against Lesotho in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Harambee Stars faced Lesotho twice within three days, beginning with a 1-1 draw before producing a commanding 4-0 victory in the return fixture.
The second result gave Kenya a much-needed boost in the FIFA ranking points.
Following the opening draw, Kenya’s tally stood at approximately 1,181.14 points, a decrease of about 1.09 points. The 4-0 victory earned the team approximately 3.93 points, taking its total to around 1,185.08.
The combined results moved Kenya from 111th to 109th globally.
Strong Response Against Lesotho
The 4-0 victory was one of the Harambee Stars’ most convincing results in recent months.
After being held to a draw in the first encounter, Kenya found the breakthrough in emphatic fashion in the second match, scoring four goals without reply.
The result comes as head coach Benni McCarthy continues to shape the national team ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures, including future AFCON qualification assignments.
The Harambee Stars will now look to carry the confidence from the Lesotho victory into more demanding international fixtures.
Kenya Second in East Africa
Kenya is currently the second-highest ranked men’s national team in East Africa, behind Uganda.
Uganda occupies 89th position in the latest FIFA rankings, while Kenya sits 109th. Tanzania follows closely in 112th place.
The standings reflect the closely contested nature of international football in the region, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda among East Africa’s leading sides.

FIFA’s men’s world rankings are calculated using a points-based system that considers factors such as match results, the strength of opponents and the importance of individual fixtures.
Results against stronger opposition can have a greater impact on a team’s ranking, while disappointing outcomes can result in a loss of points.
For Kenya, the victory over Lesotho provided enough points to lift the Harambee Stars two places in the global standings.
